On Monday, the KOKOLANA FOUNDATION Outreach Team embarked on a series of community visits to assess and gather information on vulnerable cases requiring support and intervention.
Our first stop was at Kanvili, where the team looked into a health-related case that was brought to our attention. After completing the assessment, the team proceeded to a community around the Zujung area to investigate the case of a young orphan who lost her father while she was still a toddler and sadly lost her mother just three weeks ago.
Following our engagement with the family and community members, the team continued to Lamashegu to assess another case involving twins facing educational challenges. Information was gathered through interactions with the children, parents, and other relevant sources. The findings from these visits will be compiled and presented to the Board for review and possible consideration under the Foundation’s support initiatives.
The day’s outreach was not without challenges. While moving between locations, the team experienced several difficulties, including multiple vehicle tyre punctures, which delayed our movements and made the exercise physically demanding. Despite these setbacks, the team remained committed and continued the outreach until all planned visits were completed.
Yesterday, the team returned to Lamashegu to follow up on another case involving a widowed mother who is solely responsible for raising several children. Following the death of her husband, she has struggled to provide for the family, especially after the collapse of her hairdressing business, which was previously her primary source of income.
These visits continue to expose the realities many families face and reinforce our commitment to identifying vulnerable individuals and providing meaningful support where possible.
