As part of its commitment to improving access to healthcare for vulnerable children, KOKOLANA FOUNDATION paid courtesy visits to three major health institutions in the Northern Region: Tamale West Hospital, Tamale Central Hospital, and the Tamale Teaching Hospital (TTH).
The purpose of the visits was to officially present the Foundation’s Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and initiate partnerships that will facilitate the identification and referral of children in need of healthcare and nutritional support.
Tamale West Hospital
At Tamale West Hospital, the Foundation’s team was warmly received by the Assistant Administrator, who accepted the Memorandum on behalf of the Medical Superintendent. The hospital management expressed appreciation for the Foundation’s initiative and assured the team that the document would be reviewed, after which they would revert with their response.
It was during this visit that the team took a commemorative photograph to mark the beginning of what is hoped to become a fruitful partnership.
Tamale Central Hospital
The team also visited Tamale Central Hospital, where the Memorandum of Understanding was officially received by the hospital administration. Management assured the Foundation that they would study the proposal and communicate their response in due course.
Tamale Teaching Hospital (TTH)
At the Tamale Teaching Hospital, the team had intended to meet with the Chief Executive Officer. However, due to his unavailability, the Memorandum was submitted to the Medical Superintendent’s office for further consideration.
Interestingly, during the visit, the Foundation was introduced to a five-year-old child battling kidney-related health challenges whose family is in need of support. The hospital indicated that a list of required items and medical needs would be forwarded to the Foundation to assess how best it can assist the child.
Looking Ahead
These engagements mark an important step in KOKOLANA FOUNDATION’s efforts to build strategic partnerships with healthcare institutions to ensure that vulnerable children with health and nutritional challenges are identified early and connected to the support they need.
The Foundation remains committed to working hand-in-hand with hospitals, clinics, and community health facilities to improve the lives of children and families across Ghana.
Together, we can make a difference.
